shelter for the villages of with the ancient names of Harbour Deep and
Hooping Harbour.
This isolation has caused time, in many ways, to stand still, preserving these special places and a lifestyle unknown in the modern world.
For the naturalist, Newfoundland's boreal barrens offer rich diversity of wild flowers and plants. The variety is overwhelming and the color spectacular. Migratory seabirds abound in the coastlines of the nearby ecological reserve. Common Eiders, Quillmonts, Comorants, Terns, Ospreys and Puffins sweep overhead dazzle observer. Whale watching is a Tuckamore specialty. Some of our guests have been returning to the Lodge year after year for prize winning photos. Hare Bay has been noted for some of the best sighting opportunities on the Island. But summer is not the. only time of the year for Tuckamore's Wildnis opportunities. Take an afternoon to go ice fishing, Skidooing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing are all right here at the Lodge. For the more adventurous, an overnight trip in the country can be arranged. | Nestled in The protective beauty of Southwest Pond, a mile or so from Main Brook, Tuckamore Lodge is a large architecturally -designed A-frame facility of both functional and aesthetic beauty. It features four private rooms (sleeping two to a room), baths and showers, |
| and a hot tub and sauna to take the kinks out after a day on the river.
There is a large but cozy dining room where robust breakfasts and Newfoundland classics of salmon, cod, crab, beef and home grown vegetables are served up in generous portions. Not to leave out the glorious flavors of wild partridgeberries, raspberries, strawberries, and tilt fabulous bakeapples (cloudberries).

How to Get Here
If you wish to drive, Marine Atlantic provides year-round vehicle and passenger ferry service between North Sydney, Nova Scotia and Port aux Basques, Newfoundland. Make sure that you or the Lodge has made reservations before you leave.
